Nicholas R. Hutzler

Nicholas R. (Nick) Hutzler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He earned his B.S. from Caltech in 2007, an A.M. from Harvard University in 2009, and a Ph.D. in 2014. Since 2017, he has been a faculty member at Caltech after serving as a Visiting Associate.

His research focuses on Physics, particularly on table-top experiments using lasers to control atoms and molecules for studies in fundamental physics, with applications to nuclear physics, fundamental chemistry, and quantum information. He co-teaches Physics 107 (Classical and Laser Optics) and Physics 137a (Atoms and Photons) at Caltech.
