About
Dr. Nicholas P. Deifel is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he teaches General Chemistry lectures (CHEM 20A). With over a decade of teaching expertise in general, organic, and inorganic chemistry, he encourages students to visit his office (3077F Young Hall) for assistance with any chemistry discipline.
His research focuses on inorganic chemistry and materials science, particularly the synthesis and thermodynamic properties of uranyl-based hybrid materials. He explores the role of supramolecular structure in influencing charge transfer bands, the assembly of U(VI) hybrid materials using uranyl tetrachloride anions, and uranium phosphate material formation through PF6– hydrolysis.
