About
Associate Professor Nicholas Osborne is an epidemiologist and toxicologist at the University of Queensland's School of Public Health. His research examines environmental influences on health, including climate change impacts on respiratory health, greenspace benefits, and chronic kidney disease in low-resource settings.
Methodologically, he specializes in linking environmental and health data across multiple scales. Current projects investigate how ENSO climate patterns affect pollen seasons, heatwave vulnerability mapping across Australian suburbs, and the relationship between greenspace exposure and vitamin D status using UK Biobank data.
Fieldwork includes studies of kidney disease etiology in Sri Lanka and Thailand. As editor for environmental health journals, he promotes research on climate-health connections and environmental justice issues.
Teaching covers epidemiological methods and environmental health science, with supervision of doctoral students in climate health and toxicology research.
