Dr Nicholas Furze serves as a Lecturer in Film Production and Academic Sessional within the School of Creative Arts & Industries and Arts, Humanities, Media and Creative Digital at the University of Kent's Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Education.
Research Specialization: His work critically examines East Asian Cinema (particularly Chinese propaganda films and Japanese film noir soundscapes), Gender Dynamics in Media, and Fandom Subcultures including anime cosplay communities in China. He also investigates transmedia phenomena like the Marvel Cinematic Universe's narrative strategies and gender representation in China's game industry.
