Niall Roche is a Senior Teaching Fellow and CTO-in-residence at the University College London (UCL) School of Management. He holds dual affiliations with UCL Engineering’s Institute for Communications and Connected Systems (ICCS) and the TRIANGLE EU 5G project. His roles include providing tech mentorship to UCL spin-outs and startups at IDEALondon and StartupBootcamp’s IoT accelerator, alongside advising the UK government on 5G infrastructure and innovation.
Niall teaches courses in Software Engineering, Predictive Analytics, and Programming for Business Analytics at UCL. His expertise spans 5G networks, IoT, blockchain, and machine learning, with a focus on disruptive technologies’ application in SME innovation. He contributes to the Facebook Telecom Infrastructure Project (TIP) and the TEAK accelerator, and previously developed telecom solutions for global operators like Telstra and MTN Group.
Research interests include leveraging pre-5G testbeds for SME innovation, blockchain applications, and the integration of emerging technologies in business contexts. Niall’s work bridges academic research with industry practice, emphasizing practical tech mentorship and policy engagement in next-generation networks.
