Niall MacKay

Professor Niall MacKay is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of York, where he has held roles including Head of Department (2015-2021) and currently serves as Chair of Correspondents for the Isaac Newton Institute (INI) and International Centre for Mathematical Sciences (ICMS), and Publications Secretary of the London Mathematical Society (LMS). He holds a PhD from Durham University and has held postdoctoral positions in Kyoto and Cambridge.

Recent work includes Bayesian methods for dynamic forecasting and probabilistic conflict modeling in asymmetric wars. He leads projects funded by the EPSRC, including quantifying counterfactuals in military history and exploring new structures in quantum integrability.
