Nia Coupe

Nia Coupe is a Research Fellow at Behavioural Research UK, affiliated with the Behavioural Science for International Health Workforce Team. She holds a PhD in Public Health (2020), MPhil, and BSc. Her research focuses on behavioural change across health domains including obesity, dietary habits, and climate-health intersections. She employs qualitative methods and stakeholder engagement to design equitable interventions.

Key projects include the UK’s Behavioural Research Capabilities scoping study (2025) and implementation evaluations of public health initiatives like ‘Making Every Contact Count’. She supervises doctoral students exploring organisational contributions to behavioural research and family-based obesity interventions.

Awards include Chartered Psychologist status and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She contributes to the Manchester Centre for Health Psychology, collaborating on interdisciplinary projects addressing obesity, mental health, and healthcare system challenges.

Recent work highlights include thematic analyses of school staff-parent interactions around child weight (2022) and studies on low socioeconomic status dietary interventions (2020).
