Nia Baker is a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and member of the Bridge to Faculty Program at the University of South Carolina's College of Arts & Sciences. She uses qualitative methods to study race, sexuality, cultural shifts in intimacy, and Black feminist theory.
Research examines queer politics, racial identity meaning-making, and subversive sexual subcultures. Current work investigates Black women's experiences in sex work and its impact on identity, resistance, and pleasure. Brings 7+ years of DEI research and LGBTQ programming experience.
