Ngoc Tran

Ngoc Tran serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Texas at Austin and holds a Senior Ambassador role for the University of Bonn, actively promoting its mathematical research ecosystem and academic opportunities.

Her research bridges applied mathematics with interdisciplinary applications, focusing on tropical geometry and probability theory. Key areas include geometric structures of deep neural networks, Bayesian modeling of extreme weather/disaster events, combinatorial auction theory, and longitudinal neural activity tracking via electrode arrays. This work integrates mathematical rigor with computer science, statistics, economics, and neuroscience to solve complex real-world problems.

Having lived in Bonn for two years where she gave birth to her daughter, Dr. Tran maintains strong ties through annual summer research appointments.
