Nettrice R. Gaskins

Nettrice R. Gaskins is a digital artist, academic, and advocate for STEAM education. She serves as the Assistant Director of the Lesley STEAM Learning Lab at Lesley University and is an Advisory Board Member for the School of Literature, Media, and Communication at Georgia Tech. Her work bridges generative AI, Afrofuturism, and cultural heritage to reimagine educational and artistic practices.

Her research interests revolve around STEAM education, generative AI, and culturally relevant pedagogy, focusing on empowering underrepresented communities through technology and art. She has published articles in TechTrends and Just-Tech on algorithmic bias and digital art. Gaskins has received accolades including the 2021 Ford Global Fellowship and the 2022 Ivan Allen College Distinguished Alumni Award. Her AI-generated artworks have been featured in exhibitions at the Smithsonian, SFO Museum, and UConn’s Contemporary Art Galleries, among others. She actively engages in community education, leading workshops on AI, art, and robotics for K-12 students, emphasizing Afrofuturistic narratives and ethical technology use.
