Dr. Nesreen Hussein is a Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Theatre Theory and Practice at Middlesex University's School of Arts. As an artist-scholar, her research examines intersections of performance, politics, and activism in relation to identity, agency, and belonging. She co-founded the 'Politicised Artistic Practices' research initiative and contributes to decolonial scholarship in performance studies.
Hussein's recent editorial work includes a special issue of Global Performance Studies on decolonisation. Her artistic practice explores urban identity and mobility through performance, informed by professional experience with international theatre companies. She teaches contemporary theatre, devising, critical theory, and postcolonial performance.
