About
Nerida Wilson is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the School of Biological Sciences, The University of Western Australia, and Manager of the Molecular Systematics Unit at the Western Australian Museum. Her research focuses on marine biodiversity, molecular systematics, and conservation, with particular emphasis on Southern Ocean species, seadragon populations, and cryptic species complexes.
- Affiliations: University of Western Australia, Western Australian Museum
Her work addresses critical issues in marine ecology, including methane seep ecosystems, genomic drivers in octopus populations, and taxonomic challenges in understudied species. Recent studies highlight conservation strategies for seadragons and the impacts of environmental changes on marine fauna.
Current grants include the SeadragonSearch operations project (2025–2027), exploring population genomics and illegal capture insights. Collaborative datasets include methane seep inventories and molecular clock validation for nudibranchs.
