Nelson Carter is a Senior Lecturer in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He earned his A.S. in Mathematics from San Jacinto College (2007), B.S. (2009) and M.S. (2012) in Mathematical Sciences from UHCL, and an Ed.D. in STEM Curriculum and Instruction from UHCL (2022).
His teaching focuses on precalculus and calculus, while his research examines affective constructs like self-efficacy and grit in mathematics education. He developed and validated the Precalculus Self-Efficacy Survey (PCSES) and is expanding its validation. His pedagogical work includes innovative instructional approaches for calculus and precalculus courses.
