Neil Pearce

Neil Pearce is Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) where he has served since 2010. Previously, he held academic positions at Massey University (2000-2010) and Wellington School of Medicine (1984-2000), including roles as Director of research centers. His academic credentials include a PhD in Epidemiology from University of Otago (1985), DSc from Massey University (2004), and prestigious fellowships including FMedSci, FRSNZ, and FFPH.

Professor Pearce's research focuses on epidemiological methods and substantive areas including asthma epidemiology, occupational health, and chronic kidney disease. He leads major international studies through the Global Asthma Network and investigates environmental determinants of respiratory diseases. His methodological work includes innovations in study designs for infectious disease outbreaks.

His publication portfolio shows consistent focus on global respiratory health trends, methodological innovation in epidemiology, and environmental determinants of chronic diseases. Recent work includes significant contributions to COVID-19 research methodologies and global asthma burden studies.
