Dr. Neil O'Boyle is an Associate Professor in the School of Communications and a Research Fellow at Dublin City University's Anti-Bullying Centre. His work bridges media studies, sociology, and cultural analysis, focusing on media’s role in shaping identities, group dynamics, and societal narratives. He contributes to diverse research areas, including sport media, communication theory, and popular culture.
His research projects include the ERASMUS+ BeFore initiative (Anti-Bullying Education for Sports Coaches), the MEDIVA project on migrant integration, and the F-air Play Workshop on Gender, Media, and Sport. These collaborations involve Irish academic and sports institutions, emphasizing applied and interdisciplinary approaches.
- Awards: Three-time recipient of Research Ireland’s Research Ally Award (2022–2024).
- Advising: Supervising four PhD students exploring topics such as nation branding, athlete media relations, combat sports branding, and media influencers.
