Neil Armstrong is Lecturer in Anthropology at SOAS University of London, using ethnographic methods to drive mental healthcare innovation. His collaborative research examines institutional responses to distress.
Research Focus: Three interconnected areas: 1) Student mental health systems and mitigating circumstances procedures 2) Coproduction of mental health services with lived experience 3) Ritual design for social connection. As Research Fellow at Re:Create Psychiatry, he facilitates dialogue between service users and providers.
Publication Themes: Work critically examines bureaucratic accountability in healthcare, therapeutic innovation processes, and the impact of mental health labeling in educational contexts. Recent articles analyze campus wellbeing technologies and structural compassion frameworks.
