Ned Schantz

Ned Schantz is an Associate Professor in Cultural Studies at McGill University's Faculty of Arts. His research focuses on intersections between cultural theory, film studies, and narrative innovation. Formerly teaching at the University of Southern California, he holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from USC and a B.A. from Stanford University.

His academic work explores topics like Hitchcockian cinema, hospitality theory, immersive theatre, and genre evolution. Key publications include Gossip, Letters, Phones: The Scandal of Female Networks in Film and Literature (2008) and co-authored articles in Critical Inquiry and Hitchcock Annual.

Research interests span feminist media analysis, digital storytelling, and the theoretical frameworks of 'situation' and 'narrative contract.' He has also contributed to pedagogical discussions about teaching contemporary media forms like The Bridge.
