Naveed Akhtar is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering, University of Western Australia (UWA), and a Senior Research Fellow at the Australian Office of National Intelligence. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from UWA and a Master of Science in Autonomous Systems from Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg.
His research focuses on Deep Learning, Explainable AI, Adversarial Machine Learning, Computer Vision, 3D Point Cloud Analysis, and Remote Sensing. He has led significant grants, including the Australian Research Council’s DECRA (AU$437k) and DARPA-funded projects (totaling US$2M).
- Editorial roles: Associate Editor for IEEE TNNLS and IEEE Access, Guest Editor for Neurocomputing & Applications and Remote Sensing.
- Service roles: Area Chair for CVPR’22, ECCV’22, and WACV’23; ACM Distinguished Speaker.
