Nathan Wood-House

Nathan Wood-House is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Race and Religion at the College of the Holy Cross. He holds a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology and Theological Ethics from Boston College, an M.Div. from Duke University, and a B.A. in Philosophy and Religion from Samford University. Previously, he served as a Teaching Fellow at Boston College.

His research focuses on Black liberation theology, political theology, and critical race studies, with particular attention to the thought of James H. Cone and Johann Baptist Metz. He explores intersections between Blackness studies, theological anthropology, and discourses of race in contemporary culture, analyzing how these themes manifest in literature, film, and television.

Dr. Wood-House’s publications include work on African American Christianity’s conjure traditions, Lutheran ethics, and Black Reason. His current research examines the co-production of Christian anthropologies and racialized creation myths in socio-cultural imaginaries.

He actively promotes anti-racism within Christian institutions through educational forums and serves as Co-Chair for Racial Justice in his congregation.
