Nathan Prouty is a faculty member in the Art Department at Eastern Oregon University, specializing in ceramics and mixed media. His work explores themes of cultural memory, the human condition, and the American Dream through humor and irony, often using materials like glitter, resin, and glaze. He holds a BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and an MFA from Ohio University.
Prouty’s research focuses on the history of craft, popular culture, and societal anxieties. His art has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally, and he is represented by The Lacoste Gallery in Concord, Massachusetts. Prior to academia, he worked in galleries, as a miniature model-maker for film, and as a teacher of drawing, ceramics, and sculpture.
