Nashwa Taher is a Teaching Instructor in Arabic at George Washington University's Department of Classical & Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations. She holds a B.A. in English Literature and a Diploma in Translation from Tishreen University, Syria, and an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from Ohio University.
Since joining GWU in 2007, she has contributed to curriculum development including syllabus design, proficiency-based instructional materials, and assessment frameworks across all proficiency levels. Since 2019, she has served as Arabic advisor for graduate students at the Institute for Middle Eastern Studies. Her teaching expertise includes Modern Standard Arabic and Levantine Arabic, with experience at Ohio University and Middlebury Language Summer Schools.
Ms. Taher holds UMUC & ACTFL Certification in Instructional Technology Integration and is certified as a Full OPI Tester of the Arabic Language. She conducts professional development workshops for K-12 Arabic teachers in the DC Metro Area.
