Narriman Jiddawi, PhD, is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Dar es Salaam's Institute of Marine Sciences and serves as the Program Coordinator for the SIT Tanzania-Zanzibar program since its inception. She is affiliated with the SIT Graduate Institute's MA in Climate Change and Global Sustainability program as an affiliated faculty member.
Dr. Jiddawi holds a PhD in Marine Biology from the University of Dar es Salaam, an MS in Fisheries Biology and Management from the University of North Wales, and a BS in Zoology/Botany/Education from the University of Dar es Salaam.
Her research focuses on marine organisms' age, growth, reproductive biology, and fisheries dynamics, particularly Indian mackerel (Rastrelliger kanagurta) in Zanzibar. Her teaching emphasizes climate change impacts on tropical coasts, integrating social and ecological methodologies. She actively contributes to coastal ecology and resource management in Tanzania.
