Narcís Parés

Narcís Parés is a Tenured Associate Professor at the ICT Department (DTIC) of Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, Spain. With 30 years of experience in Extended Reality technologies, he leads the Full-Body Interaction Lab (FuBIntLab) and specializes in Embodied Cognition, Human-Computer Interaction, and Interaction Design. He holds a PhD in Audiovisual Communication (Virtual Reality specialization) from UPF, an MSc in Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence from UAB, and a BSc in Computer Engineering from UPC.

• Co-creator and former coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Master in Cognitive Systems and Interactive Media (UPF)
• Former secretary of the Audiovisual University Institute (IUA) at UPF (2006-2010)
• Former head of the Interactive Systems Laboratory (IUA, 2000-2010)
• Co-founder and scientific director of Galeria Virtual (1993-2000)
• Member of ACM SIGCHI Steering Committee for Interaction Design and Children
• Member of editorial boards: International Journal of Child Computer Interaction (Elsevier) and Multimodal Technologies and Interaction Journal (MDPI)
• Head of Barcelona Node of the EU-funded European Media and Immersion Laboratory (EMIL)
• Member of Xarxa TECSAM (Innovation and Research Network on Mental Health and Technology)

His research focuses on leveraging Full-body Interaction and Embodied Cognition to advance human-computer interaction, particularly in immersive technologies. He has contributed to interdisciplinary education and experimental Virtual Reality applications in contemporary art.
