Nara Milanich

Nara Milanich, Professor of History at Barnard College since 2004, is a leading scholar in Latin American history with a focus on family dynamics, gender studies, and social inequality. She directs Columbia University's MARSLAC Masters program and mentors PhD students in Latin American History.

• Paternity testing through historical and sociocultural lenses
• Family law in Chile and Latin America
• Reproductive justice and border politics
• Child labor and social servitude in modern Latin America

She co-founded the Dream Act Faculty Alliance and serves on editorial boards for Hispanic American Historical Review and Historia (Pontificia Univ. Católica de Chile).
