Dr Naomi Hetherington is a Tutor and University Tutor in the Foundation Programme at the Department for Lifelong Learning, University of Sheffield. She is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of English and a member of the Sheffield Institute for Interdisciplinary Biblical Studies.

Her research focuses on religion and gender in late-Victorian popular literature and culture, particularly through intersections with biblical studies. She co-leads the Gothic Bible Project and organized the interdisciplinary Buffy and the Bible conference (2019), examining representations of religion in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Recent editorial work includes co-editing the Victorian Popular Fictions Journal special issue on Religion and Victorian Popular Literature and Culture (with Ciare Stainthorp, 2023). Publications span edited volumes and critical essays on New Woman fiction, freethought movements, and religious themes in literature.
