Naomi Fitter is an Associate Professor and Kearney Faculty Scholar in the College of Engineering at Oregon State University, directing the SHARE Lab focused on human-robot interaction. She develops robots that empower people through interactions ranging from therapeutic routines to entertainment.
Research interests include:
- Physical human-robot interaction
- Socially assistive applications
- Haptic communication systems
- Robotic comedy and entertainment
- Educational robotics
Award-winning research includes studies on robot-mediated pediatric mobility training, socially assistive infant-robot interaction, and robot comedy performance. Current projects develop autonomous assistive robots like GoBot for children with motor disabilities and examine how robot design influences user perceptions and trust.
