Nancy Turner is a Professor in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Michigan State University (MSU). She previously held a Professor position at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on bioactive compounds that suppress colon cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr. Turner holds a Ph.D. in Nutrition from Texas A&M University and a M.Sc. in Animal Nutrition.
Her research group, the Turner Laboratory, investigates colonocyte proliferation/apoptosis regulation, dietary influences on intestinal environments, microbiota-metabolite interactions, and metabolic responses to carcinogens/radiation. They explore dietary interventions to mitigate colon disease and apoptosis in colon stem cells exposed to DNA-damaging agents.
Dr. Turner received the 2022 Fellow of the American Society for Nutrition, recognizing her research and service contributions.
