Nancy Stevens is Assistant Professor in Indigenous Studies at Nipissing University's Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds a BA from the University of Waterloo, MEd from OISE/University of Toronto, and PhD from Trent University.
Her research examines Indigenous mental health, cultural safety in helping professions, trauma healing, and identity formation. As a woman of Kaien'kehá:ka and European descent, her work emphasizes culturally grounded approaches to wellness.
Stevens has developed curriculum and training materials for frontline workers, including:
- First Nations Mental Wellness Continuum Framework
- Workplace Well-Being Curriculum
- Decolonizing the Academy module
Her publications explore Indigenous pedagogy, culturally-based youth support systems, and healing through ceremony and cultural reconnection.
