About
Nancy Nayak is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Communication and Signal Processing group at Imperial College London's Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, under Prof. Kin Leung. Her research focuses on energy-efficient machine learning, deep reinforcement learning, and their applications in wireless communication systems, including reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) and millimeter-wave MIMO. She holds a Ph.D. and M.S. from IIT Madras (2017–2024) and a B.Tech. from NIT Durgapur (2011–2015).
- Education:
- Ph.D./M.S., IIT Madras, 2017–2024 (Thesis: Energy-efficient Machine Learning for Green Communication)
- B.Tech., NIT Durgapur, 2011–2015
Her research interests span adversarial robustness, binary neural networks, and optimization techniques for wireless systems. Notable achievements include a CERN internship (2014) and the CSS Scholarship (2011). She has co-mentored students on projects like adversarial defense mechanisms and energy-efficient RIS systems.
Publications highlight contributions to RIS-assisted transmission, adversarial attack mitigation, and binarized neural networks for edge computing. Her work often bridges machine learning and communication engineering, with applications in smart city infrastructure and IoT networks.
