Nancy LaGreca, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Languages Education at St. Mary’s University. Previously, she served as faculty at the University of Oklahoma from 2004 to 2022. She holds a B.A. from the State University of New York at Geneseo, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin, with a doctoral minor in Women and Gender Studies. Her teaching focuses on inclusive pedagogy, interdisciplinary critical thinking, and staged writing in Spanish language and Hispanic literature/culture courses.
Her research explores 19th- and early 20th-century Latin American literature, particularly feminist redefinitions of womanhood, modernismo, and mystical discourse. Key works include Rewriting Womanhood (2009) and Erotic Mysticism (2016). She has received the Kirby Prize for Best Article in the South Central Review (2013) and published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
LaGreca’s pedagogical philosophy emphasizes student-centered learning, peer feedback, and analysis of cultural products like film and art. She teaches courses such as Latin American Women Writers, Southern Cone Spanish Culture, and Survey of Spanish-American Literature.
