Nancy Hamill Governale

Nancy Hamill Governale is an Adjunct Professor in Industrial Technology and Management at Illinois Institute of Technology's Armour College of Engineering. A licensed architect and Certified Energy Manager, she teaches Interprofessional Projects (IPRO) courses and architecture while leading Facilities Research, Inc., specializing in sustainability planning.

Her research focuses on sustainable building systems, energy efficiency retrofits, zero-energy design, and green certification standards. She established IIT's Zero Energy Lab and has led projects including solar integration studies, geothermal applications, and sustainable restaurant development. Publications address recycled building components and green design strategies.

Notable grants include a $2M High Performance Green Building portfolio and Historic Preservation awards. She previously served as IIT's Chief Facilities Officer, developing campus sustainability master plans and securing $8M for energy improvements.
