Nancy E. Berg is a Professor in the Department of Jewish, Islamic, and Middle Eastern Studies at Washington University in St. Louis. She holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and specializes in Modern Hebrew and Arabic literatures, with particular focus on Iraqi-Jewish diaspora narratives and women's writing.
Her research explores intersections of cultural identity, memory, and food studies within Middle Eastern contexts. Recent works include analyses of Israeli author Sami Michael and co-edited projects on Hebrew language discourse.
Prof. Berg has held fellowships at CASA, the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and the Herbert Katz Center for Advanced Jewish Studies. She previously served as president of the National Association of Professors of Hebrew (NAPH).
