About
Nancy Chow is a Professor in the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Manitoba, affiliated with the Clayton H. Riddell Faculty of Environment, Earth, and Resources. She holds a Ph.D. in Sedimentology from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Geology from the University of Calgary.
Her research focuses on the sedimentology and diagenesis of Paleozoic carbonate platforms, integrating fieldwork, core/well log data, petrography, and geochemistry. Key interests include platform architecture, tectonic influences, and applications to petroleum reservoir prediction. She teaches courses in Sedimentology (GEOL 3900), Petroleum Geology (GEOL 4520), and Earth Systems of Central Canada (GEOL 7200).
Recent work emphasizes the Canning Basin (Australia) and Western Canada Sedimentary Basin, exploring Devonian platform dynamics and mass extinction impacts. Her studies contribute to both academic understanding and applied resource exploration.
