Nancy Bristow is a Professor of History at the University of Puget Sound. Her research focuses on 20th-century American history, particularly race and social change. She specializes in state-sanctioned violence against African Americans during the Black Power era and has written extensively on topics like the 1918 influenza pandemic and social engineering during World War I. Currently, she is completing a teaching text on the 1970 Jackson State College shootings under contract with Oxford University Press.
