Nancy Brier

Nancy Brier is an Adjunct Professor of Dance at Long Island University, affiliated with the School of Performing Arts at LIU Post. She holds a B.F.A. from Arizona State University, an M.A. from New York University, and is certified in Laban Movement Studies. She has significantly contributed to dance education and performance both nationally and internationally.

Her research and artistic work focuses on modern and jazz dance, Laban Movement Analysis, and the exploration of human-nature relationships through choreography. She specializes in dance performance, choreographic development, and movement education.

The available publication reflects her artistic direction toward nature-inspired dance works, particularly in film and live performance, combining environmental themes with expressive movement.

Nancy Brier co-founded and co-directed the Post Concert Dance Company at LIU Post with support from two LIU Retention Grants. She served as Company Director and Resident Choreographer for Circle of Dance Repertory Company for 15 years, guiding its expansion into major New York City venues. She has mentored numerous dancers and choreographers through company leadership and academic teaching.

She has been actively involved with professional organizations including the National Dance Education Organization and the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, contributing to the advancement of dance pedagogy and movement analysis.
