Nancy Barton is a Clinical Professor of Art and Art Education at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. She founded the Prattsville Art Center and Residency in the Catskills, a creative placemaking laboratory using arts for disaster recovery and community connection. Her socially engaged practice bridges rural/urban divides through exhibitions, performances, and symposia.
Her research examines intersections of art, social equity, feminism, and psychoanalysis, with projects exploring collaborative methodologies in diverse cultural contexts. Barton's work has been supported by ArtPlace America, NEA, NYSCA, FEMA, and Creatives Rebuild New York.
