Nancy Atkinson, Ph.D., is a Professor of English at the University of Northern Alabama (UNA), affiliated with the Department of English within the College of Arts, Sciences, and Engineering. Her research focuses on Medieval and Renaissance Literature, The Bible as Literature, Anglo-Saxon saint stories, sermon literature, Gay and Lesbian literature, and Women's studies. She holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Pittsburgh (1997), preceded by an M.A. in English (1991) and an M.Ed. in Humanities Education (1987).

Dr. Atkinson teaches a wide range of courses, including Chaucer, Shakespeare, World Literature, and specialized seminars like 'The Medieval Imagination' and 'The Sacred Feminine.'
