Dr. Nan Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manitoba’s Price Faculty of Engineering. He holds a BEng (Computer Science and Technology) from Northeastern University (2005), an MSc (Mechanical Engineering) from Northeastern University (2008), and a PhD (Mechanical Engineering) from the University of Manitoba (2012). His research focuses on mechanical vibration, structural health monitoring, smart materials and structures, metamaterials, nano-technology, and energy harvesting. Dr. Wu has published over 90 journal articles and holds 3 patents in energy harvesting and structural health monitoring. He serves on the editorial boards of 4 international journals and reviews for over 50 journals.
His research interests include damage detection, structural enhancement, and signal processing for structural analysis. He has pioneered studies on load path analysis, 4D-printed metamaterials, and friction-induced energy harvesting systems. Dr. Wu’s recent work emphasizes bio-inspired designs and advanced smart materials for energy absorption and vibration control.

His work frequently explores applications in aerospace, automotive, and biomedical engineering.
