Dr. Nabil Maalej is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at Khalifa University. He received his Ph.D. in Medical Physics (1994) and MS degrees in Medical Physics (1990) and Electrical Engineering (1987) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, along with a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rochester (1985). His academic career spans over two decades, including leadership roles in establishing medical physics master's programs at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (2001) and Khalifa University (2021).

His current research includes building a benchtop spectral CT imaging system for tissue and material characterization.
He has served as Principal Investigator for six funded research projects and Co-Investigator for eight others in medical physics and biomedical engineering. His work has resulted in over 65 journal publications and 85 conference papers, alongside three US patents in X-ray imaging development. Dr. Maalej has mentored over 35 medical physicists and supervised numerous graduate students, including:
