Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer CenterAbout
Naama Aviram is an Assistant Professor in the Molecular Biology Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Her research focuses on bacterial defense mechanisms, particularly the CRISPR-Cas system, exploring how bacteria acquire and regulate immunological spacers against pathogens. She received her PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science (2017) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Rockefeller University (2024). Her work utilizes genetics, genomics, and live imaging to study type III CRISPR-Cas systems' roles in bacterial immunity and evolution.
Key achievements include the Tri-Institutional Breakout Prize (2024) and a K99/R00 NIH Award (2023-2028). Her lab, the Naama Aviram Lab, investigates CRISPR-Cas molecular dynamics and their impact on bacterial physiology. Current lab members include research technicians and scholars. Open postdoctoral positions are listed on MSK’s Career Center.
