Naaheed Mukadam

Dr. Naaheed Mukadam is a Principal Research Fellow at University College London (UCL) and an honorary consultant psychiatrist with the UCLH Mental Health Liaison Team. She specializes in dementia research, particularly focusing on inter-ethnic epidemiology and addressing health inequalities affecting minority ethnic groups. Her work bridges clinical practice and academic research, emphasizing culturally inclusive dementia care and prevention strategies.

Education: Dr. Mukadam holds a Medical Sciences degree from the University of Cambridge, an intercalated BA in Experimental Psychology, and a Clinical Medicine degree from the University of Oxford. She completed psychiatric training at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust and obtained a doctoral research fellowship from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).

Research Interests: Her research explores dementia's prevalence, risk factors, and care disparities across ethnic groups. Key areas include:

• Ethnic variations in dementia diagnosis and treatment
• Modifiable risk factors (e.g., diabetes, sleep, loneliness)
• Cross-cultural neuropsychological assessment
• Public health policies for dementia inclusivity

Professional Roles: She serves as Deputy Lead for the Race Equity and Ethnic Diversity (REED) working group at UCL, advocating for institutional diversity and inclusion.
