About
Myriam Hilbert is a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Paris-Saclay's Ecology, Society, Evolution Laboratory, actively contributing to the Blue Green Governance (BGG) project since 2025. Her work centers on coastal governance, vulnerability assessments, and participatory scenario development at land-sea interfaces across seven pilot sites.
Her academic foundation includes:
- Doctorate in Geography and Sociology from University Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne (2018-2024), with thesis titled "The Adapto experiment of flexible coastline management by the Conservatoire du littoral – Design and reception in the territories of a young public policy" defended September 26, 2024 under Catherine Carré (director) and Lydie Goeldner-Gianella (co-director).
Hilbert's research critically examines social dimensions of coastal adaptation through flexible management frameworks. She investigates stakeholder perceptions, policy implementation challenges, and nature-based solutions for eroding shorelines, integrating environmental geography with sociological analysis of coastal communities. Her methodology combines large-scale user surveys (1,678 participants across 10 sites), stakeholder interviews, and digital participatory platforms like ePLANETe to co-create climate resilience strategies.
Her current BGG project research employs backcasting techniques to identify actionable pathways for territorial development while analyzing governance conflicts in coastal risk management. Previously, her Cifre-funded doctoral work with the French Coastal Conservatory documented experimental depolderization projects in metropolitan and overseas territories including French Guiana.
Hilbert actively disseminates findings through major international forums including the One Ocean Science Congress (2025), Doctoriales Sciences Sociales de l’Eau (2024), and the International Union of Geographers Centenary (2022), focusing on translating social perception data into actionable coastal policy frameworks.
