Myra Watson

Myra Watson is an Assistant Professor in the Birth-Kindergarten Program at Western Carolina University (WCU) and serves as the Director of Teacher and Professional Education within the College of Education and Allied Professions. Prior to her full-time role at WCU, she held diverse roles in early childhood education, including kindergarten teacher, pre-kindergarten teacher, home visitor, parent educator, and kindergarten transition coordinator. She holds an EDD, MAED, and BS from Western Carolina University.

Her teaching interests focus on Early Childhood Curriculum, Professional Standards, Reading/Literacy, and Instructional Practices in Kindergarten. Research interests include Pre-service Teacher Dispositions, Beginning Teacher Recruitment/Coaching, and Performance Assessment in Teacher Education Programs. She resides in Clyde, NC, with her family and enjoys reading, cooking, and exploring local restaurants.
