Dr. Myles Young is an Associate Professor in the School of Psychological Sciences at the University of Newcastle. His research focuses on developing innovative programs to improve men’s physical and mental health, with a particular emphasis on father-child interventions to enhance family well-being. He has received national awards, including the BUPA Emerging Health Researcher of the Year (2019) and AMP Foundation Tomorrow Maker (2020), and the University of Newcastle’s Teaching Excellence Award (2022).
Education: PhD and Bachelor of Psychology (Honours 1A) from the University of Newcastle.
Research Interests: Health behavior change, health psychology, men’s health, mental health, social cognitive theory, and weight loss. His work includes evaluating interventions targeting fathers to improve children’s physical activity and nutrition, and exploring telehealth and gender-tailored approaches to mental and physical health.
