Dr. Mykola Babiak is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Finance at Lancaster University Management School, promoted to Associate Professor in 2024. He earned his PhD in Economics from CERGE-EI in 2019, with research focusing on asset pricing, macro-finance, and digital currencies.
His research investigates asset pricing anomalies, volatility modeling in derivatives markets, cryptocurrency market microstructure, and macroeconomic learning mechanisms. Babiak develops computational models connecting financial market behavior to macroeconomic fundamentals and investor psychology.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on cryptocurrency markets, volatility risk premia, and behavioral aspects of asset pricing. Recent work extends to machine learning applications in portfolio optimization and deep learning approaches to financial forecasting.
