Mustafa Bakkal

Mustafa Bakkal is a Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Istanbul Technical University. His research focuses on composite materials, bulk metallic glasses, machining processes, and thermoplastic composites. He has conducted extensive studies on fatigue analysis, cutting mechanics, and residual stress investigation in materials like AA7075 aluminum, compacted graphite iron, and Zr-based metallic glasses.

Key research contributions include the development of hybrid cutting models, optimization of additive manufacturing processes, and the analysis of thermally induced deformations. He has been awarded the Elite Faculty Member, BEST DOCTORAL STUDY AWARD, Performance Award, and an International PhD Scholarship. His work spans experimental and analytical investigations into drilling, turning, and milling operations, with a focus on enhancing material performance and process efficiency.
