Professor Murray Mitchell is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Biomedical Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He holds a D.Phil. in Clinical Medicine from the University of Oxford and a D.Sc. from Liverpool University. His research focuses on medical biochemistry, metabolomics, and medical microbiology, with a strong emphasis on exosome-based therapies in reproductive and pediatric health. He previously served as Director of the UQ Centre for Clinical Research and held senior roles at the University of Auckland, including Research Director of the Liggins Institute and Deputy Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences.
Professor Mitchell’s work spans exosome applications in fertility enhancement, pregnancy complication management, and medicinal cannabis for pediatric oncology patients. He has received prestigious awards such as the Fellowship of the Royal Society of New Zealand (FRSNZ) and the James Cook Research Fellowship. His recent studies explore exosome-mediated drug delivery systems for pain management and the role of extracellular vesicles in bovine reproductive health. He leads the MINI trial investigating medicinal cannabis for palliative care in children with cancer.
