Murray Kenneth

Kenneth Murray (1933–2013) was a distinguished Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of Edinburgh (1967–1998) and Director of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany (1979–1982). His work focused on genetic engineering, molecular biology, and the development of the hepatitis B vaccine.

Education:

• PhD in Microbiology, Birmingham University (1959)
• Postdoctoral research at Stanford University (1960–1964) and Fred Sanger's lab at MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge (1964–1967)

Research Contributions: Pioneered recombinant DNA technology and co-developed the first hepatitis B vaccine through genetic engineering. His work laid foundations for modern biotechnology and vaccine development.
