About
Dr. Murray Alexander is an Adjunct Professor of Physics at the University of Winnipeg. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Manchester (1973). His research focuses on astrophysics of binary star systems and exoplanet dynamics, with particular emphasis on orbital precession, resonances, and tidal interactions. He teaches PHYS-3203: Advanced Mechanics in the 2024-2025 academic year.
Research Interests:
- Mathematical modeling of exoplanet orbital dynamics
- Stellar oscillations in binary systems
- Tidal resonances and angular momentum transport
- Observational consequences of tidal oscillators in early-type stars
Publications span astrophysical systems (binary stars/exoplanets) and interdisciplinary work in epidemiological modeling, including influenza transmission dynamics and network-based disease spread analysis.
