Dr. Murat Gunestas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and Computer Science at the University of New Haven's Tagliatela College of Engineering. His research specializes in digital forensics and cybersecurity, with emphasis on reconstructive log analysis, network forensics, forensic web services, and misuse identification techniques.
Prior to academia, he worked as a cybercrime investigator and digital forensic examiner for public and private institutions, analyzing hundreds of cyber incidents and investigating criminal groups. As a bug hunter on crowdsourced security platforms, he discovered approximately 300 vulnerabilities receiving formal recognition.
Dr. Gunestas holds CISSP certification since 2015 and teaches courses in computer security and cyber forensics.
